Aaron is an accomplished financial restructuring and bankruptcy
attorney in the broadest sense, having represented debtors, creditors
committees, financial institutions, bondholders, hedge funds,
asset purchasers and landlords in all facets of domestic and cross-border
insolvency proceedings. He is a trusted advisor to Fortune 500
companies on their insolvency matters and widely recognized as
a leading expert in corporate restructurings involving telecommunications
assets and in chapter 15 proceedings.
Aaron was named a “Leading
Lawyer in Field” by Chambers USA Guide to America’s
Leading Lawyers for Business in its 2011 and 2010 publications
and one of twelve “Outstanding Young Restructuring Attorneys”
for 2010 by Turnarounds & Workouts magazine after
its nationwide selection process. He was selected as one of
2009’s “40 Illinois Attorneys Under Forty to Watch”
from more than 20,000 eligible lawyers by the Law Bulletin Publishing
Company, publisher of the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin and
Chicago Lawyer. That same year, he was awarded Large Transaction
of the Year by the Turnaround Management Association’s
Chicago/Midwest chapter for his role as creditors committee
counsel in In re Trinsic, Inc. (Bankr. S.D. Ala.).
Aaron has also received the highest possible legal ability and
ethical standards peer rating (“A/V”) by Martindale-Hubbell.
Aaron is an active member of the
turnaround and restructuring community, and is regularly featured
panelist discussing trends in the U.S. bankruptcy market in
Financier Worldwide’s Roundtable. He is a contributing
author of “Cross-Border Debt Restructurings: Innovative
Approaches for Creditors, Corporates and Sovereigns,”
(Euromoney, 2005), a leading treatise on the subject
of cross-border insolvencies and workouts. Aaron’s publication,
“Understanding Chapter 15 of the United States Bankruptcy
Code: Everything You Need to Know About Cross-Border Insolvency
Legislation in the United States” (Law and Business
Review of the Americas, Spring 2008), recently was cited
to the U.S. Supreme Court on an issue involving multinational
insolvencies.
Aaron served as an Adjunct Professor
at Northwestern University School of Law for many years where
he taught several advanced bankruptcy classes. He has lectured
extensively on those subjects around the world, including at
the University of Chicago and The Canadian Institute, and is
a member of the Turnaround Management Association where he currently
serves as a Vice President and member of the Board of Directors
of its Chicago/Midwest chapter and on its International Board
of Trustees. Aaron is active in the Jewish community through
his service on the Board of Directors for the Anti-Defamation
League’s Greater Chicago/Upper Midwest regional office.
Aaron received his J.D, magna
cum laude, Order of the Coif, from Northwestern University
School of Law. He received his B.A. with distinction from the
University of Michigan, where he was named the James B. Angell
Scholar and earned membership to Pi Sigma Alpha, the national
political science honor society.
