• JACK R. O'Connor is an associate in the Bankruptcy, Reorganization and Creditors’ Rights practice at Sugar Felsenthal Grais & Hammer LLP. Jack’s experience includes the representation of corporate clients in chapter 11 proceedings, negotiation of complex business transactions and structuring non-bankruptcy workouts in an anemic credit market. In 2011, Jack successfully steered his first chapter 11 plan of reorganization to confirmation before the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Illinois in In re Mangia Mangia, Inc. In addition to his experience as a restructuring and insolvency professional, Jack has worked on appellate matters in state and federal courts.
  
  Jack graduated magna cum laude from The John Marshall Law School in Chicago where he served as the Executive Lead Articles Editor for The John Marshall Law Review. Additionally, while in law school Jack served as an extern to the Honorable Bruce W. Black, U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Northern District of Illinois. As an extern, Jack assisted Judge Black with determining issues related to promissory notes, property of the estate, and chapter 7 liquidations. Jack was a member of the Moot Court Honors Program and competed in both the Annual Conrad B. Duberstein Bankruptcy Moot Court Competition in New York as well as the Mugel National Tax Moot Court Competition, where he placed second overall. Prior to attending law school, Jack received his B.A. in Political Science from the University of Iowa.
